Privacy

What this blog records.

This notice describes data handled by the public pages under eddiecheng.com/blog. Services reached through an external link have their own privacy terms.

Newsletter details

When someone subscribes, the email address is sent to the newsletter endpoint on the main eddiecheng.com site. The blog records that a subscription succeeded for referral reporting, but its referral record does not contain the email address. Subscription emails include the way to unsubscribe.

Referral and interaction data

The blog records how a visit arrived, such as direct, search, another website or an AI assistant. It keeps the referral source, landing path and relevant topic desk for the browser session. It also records impressions and clicks on calls to action.

A random session identifier is stored in the browser's session storage. First-touch attribution is also stored in a session cookie named ec_blog_attribution. The identifier is hashed before an event is saved. The stored event does not contain a name or email address.

Analytics and request security

Public pages load Seline analytics to measure readership and site use. Requests to the blog also carry ordinary technical information such as the requested page, browser details and network address. The blog hashes the network address and browser identifier when it creates a rate-limit key. It does not store the raw values in that key.

Your choices

Browser controls can clear the attribution cookie and session storage. Blocking browser storage may cause the blog to count the same visit more than once, but the articles remain available. Newsletter subscribers can use the unsubscribe link in an email. Questions about this notice can be sent through the contact routes on this site.
