The month is allowed to look worse
August is the month that looks like you forgot how to run ads.
Q2 was easy.
Conversion was there.
You got used to it.
Then Q3 shows up and the same ads don't buy the same result.
That's not a surprise.
At VIBAe we treat it as the season.
Q2 has been the bigger season.
Q3 conversion has been softer.
That's been the pattern the last few years.
Not a law.
We planned for it anyway.
Month-on-month still feels frustrating.
We're still 20% up year on year for Q3 so far.
The year can be up and the month can still feel like it's slipping.
Cash flow in the chain does that.
The biggest variable expense is ad spend.
We spend over $500,000 a month on Matter.
When conversion tightens, that line gets loud.
That's the whole problem.
The mistake is treating a seasonal pullback like a broken account.
You either keep spending like it's May.
Or you panic-cut everything and starve the campaigns that were still bringing new customers.
Both are expensive motion.
Here's why.
The decision in a big Meta month is not "more ads" or "kill spend."
It's cut versus keep.
Dial down where performance is tight.
Leave spend on where it is still driving new customers.
Hold net MER efficiency the same or better than Q2.
That's the floor.
We still test.
We still push new ideas.
We just don't do it by giving up the efficiency that protects the business.
If you drop that floor to "keep learning," you are not testing.
You are paying to feel busy in a quarter you already knew would be harder.
I sit this the same way on the agency side.
Before we touch a budget I want two things named.
What is actually tight, and gets cut.
What is still buying new customers, and stays on.
If you can't split those, you don't have a Q3 plan.
You have a mood.
This is uncomfortable for teams that only look at the month.
The month is allowed to look worse.
That is not permission to get sloppy.
It is permission to stop judging a seasonal quarter with a May scoreboard.
Hold the efficiency that keeps new customers coming in at a cost the business can live with.
Let the rest of the account get quieter.
I don't fully know the right cut for every brand.
Category, cash, how hard Q3 hits you.
But the directional truth is the same.
If you can't point at what you cut and what you protected, you didn't sit the month.
You just reacted to it.
What did you actually cut this week.
What did you protect.
